Tosa East alum performs in "The Last Five Years" at Marquette University

Feb. 10, 2010 | 0 comments

Wauwatosa East High School alum and Wauwatosa native Danielle Scampini will be taking part in Marquette University’s annual Alternative Theatre Festival, performing in the famous off-Broadway musical "The Last Five Years" by Jason Robert Brown. It is a one-act, primarily sung-through musical about a couple’s relationship from beginning to end. Cathy begins the show at the end of their relationship and works backwards, while Jamie’s story begins after their first date and progresses chronologically. The show examines their relationship from their first date, through their wedding, up until their divorce. The show is directed by recent Marquette graduate Amelia Figg-Franzoi with music direction by Jack Forbes Wilson.

The Alternative Theatre Festival is completely student run and showcases the best work of the graduating theatre students at Marquette University. All performances are free! The show is being presented as Part II of this year’s festival, the weekend of February 25-28. "The Last Five Years" will be performed on Thursday, February 25 and Saturday, February 27 at 7:30 PM at the Helfaer Theatre (525. N. 13th Street) on Marquette University’s campus. Seating is at a first-come, first-serve basis. For more information about Marquette University’s Alternative Theatre Festival, please email debra.krajec@marquette.edu or call 414.288.7504.
