Holiday Food Baskets Provide More than a Meal for Individuals with Disabilities

Dec. 12, 2009 | 0 comments

The holidays often bring joy and stress to low-income individuals and families struggling to place food on their table. To help alleviate this stress and provide a sense of hope, ARC of Greater Milwaukee (ARC) and the Enderis Park Neighborhood Association are partnering to provide holiday SHARE baskets to individuals with developmental and related disabilities.

“This gift provides more than a meal for the individuals we serve at ARC. It gives them a sense of pride because they are able to contribute to a meal shared with family, caregivers or friends. It is a way for our consumers to say thank you to others for the tremendous support they receive throughout the year,” stated Sarah Krauss, ARC program coordinator.

During the week of December 21, ARC staff will deliver the food baskets to individuals with developmental and related disabilities. These adults receive ARC case management and family support services that help them maintain their independence and ability to live actively within our community.

ARC is grateful to the Enderis Neighborhood Park Association and its members for their continued support of the food basket program. Individuals interested in contributing to this effort may call 414-774-6255 or email jennifer@arcmilwaukee.org.
