NEWS AND NOTES

Meeting notes: Several guests attended our meeting: Jean Davidson came to visit again and update us on Yell & Tell (see below). Sharon Muehlfeld, a member of the school board, and Don Birschel, member of the Elm Grove club and alderman, cam along to hear our speaker, Jason Zuarwik, principal of the Wauwatosa School of the Trades. Jason was Assistant Principal at WWHS and is now at WEHS, but he also heads up the School of the Trades. Right now the school has 17 juniors studying carpentry, plumbing, and electrical basics. The hope is that next year all 17 will stay with the program and about 20 more juniors will enroll.

The happy dollar kitty was well fed. Rick Mosher provided $3 for the East Players production of The Foreigner, for his new grandchild in New York, and for his visit to the K-Kids last week. Gary Krueger paid to tell his Santa Claus joke (ask him to tell you when you see him next). Gary Knisbeck made a contribution for each of Carl Smith's three heart bypasses, installed just last week. Eli Potkonjak also threw in $3, one for his daughter's safe return to Paris after a brief tour around Europe, one for his daughter's appearance in the Macy's parade, and another for his daughter's second place finish in a dance contest. Dick Pietsch put in $3 for the successful wine and beer tasting event, for his trip to – and mostly return from – his doctor, and one for the road. Tom Schultz paid one because his granddaughter got to her winter employment at a Colorado ski resort without interference from the weather, and then got snowed in.

East side adventure: On November 24 we will take our annual trip to the East Side. Ken Snyder is organizing car pooling. Meet at 11:30 AM at the Watertown Plank Park & Ride lot on the south side of the intersection.

Yell & Tell: Jean Davidson reported that all of the Wauwatosa schools, but public and private, have had Yell & Tell presentations. The program is so successful that she has officially lost count of the number of presentations. She is hoping to recruit the Tosa Key Clubs to make presentations in the local schools.

Entertainment: The committee is sponsoring a get together at Sunset Playhouse on Monday evening, December 14. The sign-up sheet started last week.

Program assignments: November 24 – annual East Side meeting and field trip to Downer Wine & Spirits. December 1 – committee meetings. December 8 – Dr. Phil Ertl.

Meetings: Tuesday noon, Mayfair Mall Community Room
