Otolaryngologist Tom Robey joins Medical College of Wisconsin Faculty, Children’s Hospital of Wisconsin Staff

Tom Robey, MD, has been appointed associate professor of clinical otolaryngology and communication sciences at the Medical College of Wisconsin (MCW). He joins the Division of Pediatric Otolaryngology which now has nine faculty members and is one of the largest subspecialty groups of its kind in the country. He sees patients at Children’s Hospital of Wisconsin and the Greenway Medical Center.

Board certified in otolaryngology, Dr. Robey specializes in pediatric otolaryngology. His clinical interests are pediatric head and neck neoplasms and congenital lesions, thyroid surgery, airway reconstructive surgeries, vocal cord paralysis, cystic fibrosis related sinus surgery, otitis media, ear surgery and adenotonsillar disease.

Prior to joining MCW faculty, Dr. Robey was a partner in Pediatric Ear, Nose and Throat Specialists and currently holds several positions at Children’s Hospital of Wisconsin, including president-elect of the medical staff and section chief of the division of pediatric otolaryngology.

Dr. Robey received his MD from Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis, Mo. He completed an internship in general surgery at St. Joseph’s Mercy Hospital and the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor, Michigan. He completed his residency in otolaryngology – head and neck surgery at the University of Michigan while also receiving a training grant from the National Institutes of Health (NIH), making him a research fellow in the department of otolaryngology. His research focused on the development of biodegradable tracheal stents and in 1999, he won the Merle Lawrence Research Award at the American Society of Pediatric Otolaryngology for best basic science research paper on his findings. He was also selected chief resident of otolaryngology from 2000-2001. Dr. Robey received his Bachelor’s of Science degree in biomedical engineering from Duke University, graduating summa cum laude.

Dr. Robey has been named to the Best Doctors in America database since 2009. He is a member of the American Medical Association, Wisconsin Medical Society, American Society of Pediatric Otolaryngology and the American Academy of Otolaryngology – Head and Neck Surgery. He is a Commission member of the Pan African Academy of Christian Surgeons (PAACS) and a visiting faculty instructor at Bongolo Hospital in Gabon, West Africa.
