What NFL television analysts said about the Detroit Lions selecting former Northern Illinois wide receiver Kenny Golladay at No. 96 overall, in the third round:

ESPN's Todd McShay: “He started his career at North Dakota before transferring to Northern Illinois. Sat out that season going back to 2014, but the last couple of years, (had) 160 catches, averaged over 14 yards per catch (and had) 18 touchdowns. When you look at him, he also does a good job with the ball in his hands as a runner. They got him involved there. He’s a huge target. This guy’s 6-4, 218 pounds, ran a 4.5 (40) at the combine (4.5 flat at that size) and had a 1.58 in his 10-yard split. So, this is a guy who can get to good top speed and gets there quickly. I think he has a lot of tools to develop. I didn’t think he was going to go this early, Mel. But I understand this as a developmental project. He’s got a lot to work at.”

ESPN's Mel Kiper Jr.: “He can track the ball over his shoulder. What he needs to do is not let the ball get into his body as much as he does. He’s capable of making some nice blocks. He’s big at 6-4, 218 (pounds). Just snatch the ball with your hands. Don’t let it get into your body. At the pro level, you can’t do that and get away with it.”
