Tickets for Alabama, Florida State opener top list of most in-demand games

The rare meeting between Alabama and Florida State on Sept. 2 remains the most expensive and in-demand ticket for the upcoming college football season. 

Chick-fil-A Kickoff Game at Atlanta's new Mercedes-Benz Stadium sold out last month and the average ticket sale price is $845 on StubHub, according to data provided by the secondary ticket site. The game has also generated the most overall sales on the secondary ticket market. There are approximately 1,600 tickets available, according to StubHub.

"This has been the trend over the last few years as college football programs to create unique cross-conference matchups," StubHub spokesperson Cameron Papp told USA TODAY Sports. "These two teams have a deep history, but have only faced each other four times and the last meeting was in 2009."

Florida (28%) has been the state that has accounted for the most ticket sales followed by Georgia (20%) and Alabama (19%), according to StubHub. 

The Advocare Classic between Michigan and Florida at the AT&T Stadium, home of the Dallas Cowboys, is second in overall sales in terms of money paid for tickets on the secondary ticket market, according to StubHub. The average ticket sale price, however, isn't nearly as expensive ($253) and there are about 12,000 seats on StubHub as of Monday morning. 

Rounding out the overall sales list top 3 is Georgia vs. Notre Dame and, unlike the top 2 games, the Sept. 9 contest won't be at a neutral site. Notre Dame will host Georgia in the second meeting between the two schools. 

Tickets sold for the game are averaging $736 on StubHub and there are five seats no the site that exceed $10,000 when fees are factored in.
