CLEVELAND - The start time for Wednesday’s Game 2 was been moved up one hour  - to 7:08 p.m. ET  - due to expected rain in the Cleveland area, Major League Baseball announced Tuesday night.

The chance of rain in Cleveland increases from 20% during the day Wednesday to 80% later Wednesday evening. Up to one-quarter of an inch is expected along with the system.

Despite the potential rain, MLB plans to "start on time."

MLB reiterated that Game 2 can not be rain-shortened and it has to be played to completion. If rain suspends the game, it will continue on Thursday.

"If it's light and ... we don't think it's going to get any heavier, I think we'd be apt to play in that," MLB senior vice president Peter Woodfork said about 2½ hours before first pitch. "The field's in good condition. The tarp's been on. The outfield can take a lot of water."

The World Series has not had a game postponed by rain since 2011, when the St. Louis Cardinals and Texas Rangers saw Game 7 of that series delayed a day in St. Louis.
