Wauwatosa East fell behind early and couldn't recover in a 38-0 loss to Menomonee Falls in the Greater Metro Conference opener on Sept. 2.

Menomonee Falls took a 7-0 lead on a 2-yard touchdown run by Patrick Doyle with 9:30 left in the first quarter. The Indians struck again six minutes later on a 9-yard run by Arick Gleissner.

After a second-quarter 44-yard field goal by Michael Burgoyne, Doyle scored touchdowns of 2 and 5 yards to give the Indians a 31-0 advantage at halftime.

The Red Raiders held Menomonee Falls to just seven points in the second half, a third-quarter rushing touchdown by Julius Davis.

Quarterback Luke Lindemann ran for 72 yards on eight carries and completed eight of 17 pass attempts for 60 yards. Cyrus Taylor caught six passes for 55 yards.

Wauwatosa East was outgained 370 to 160, as Menomonee Falls accumulated 310 yards on the ground.

The Red Raiders (0-3, 0-1 Greater Metro) will travel to Sussex Hamilton to take on the Chargers (2-1, 0-1) at 7 p.m. Friday, Sept. 9.

Sussex Hamilton won nonconference games over South Milwaukee and Cedarburg but was dropped, 41-0, by Marquette in its conference opener.
