The Wauwatosa Hurricanes finished fourth out of eight teams at the Homestead sectional on Feb. 13 and qualified for state in three individual events and two relays.
Danny Larson won both the 200 freestyle in 1 minute, 43.71 seconds and the 100 free (47.82).
Avery Weishoff not only finished second in the 1-meter diving (409.55 points), but he set a team record, breaking his own from earlier this year.
The 400 free relay was second (3:20.53) with junior Cal Hartt, senior Henry Lynch, sophomore Caleb Vollmers and Larson qualifying, and the 200 free relay was fourth (1:31.14) behind Larson, senior Paul Gagne, sophomore Nick Thuli and Hartt.
'We had an amazing meet,' coach Heidi Hegwood said. 'The Hurricanes really stepped up and did what they needed to do to succeed. Nick Thuli and Brandon Toye both had large time drops in their events.
'I am so happy with the boys performances across the board. Next up, state.'
The WIAA State Swimming and Diving Championships are at the University of Wisconsin-Madison Natatorium on Friday and Saturday, Feb. 19-20.
Looking ahead to state, Weishoff is the lead-off diver out of 24.
