The Wauwatosa Hurricanes took third place in the Woodland Conference Tournament, and junior Danny Thomas won two individual titles.
'I am over-the-top proud of the Hurricane team,' coach Heidi Hegwood said. 'They had a really great meet. We had some amazing time drops from swimmers like Henry Lutz (200 IM, 100 backstroke), Henry Lynch (200 freestyle, 500 free) and Paul Gagne (50 free, 100 butterfly).'
Shorewood took first (452.5), followed by Greenfield/Greendale/Pius XI (383) and Wauwatosa East/West (346).
Junior Danny Larson won the 200 freestyle in 1 minute, 45.21 seconds and the 100 free (48.63).
Both divers picked up points as senior Avery Weishoff finished second (375.70) and sophomore Jacob Lueck placed sixth (242.85).
Junior Cal Hartt took third in the 200 free (1:51.37) and fifth in 100 butterfly (56.84).
The 200 free relay took third (1:34.36) behind Larson, sophomore Nick Thuli, sophomore Caleb Vollmers and Hartt, and the 400 free relay was also third (3:28.50) behind Hartt, senior Brandon Toye, Vollmers and Larson.
The 200 medley relay was fifth (1:53.74) behind sophomore Henry Lutz, Thuli, senior Ryan Polasky and Toye.
Vollmers also finished sixth in the 200 free (1:56.06) and eighth in the 500 free (5:16.05). Lynch finished eighth in the 200 free (1:56.93) and 10th in the 500 free (5:28.09).
Two B relays also got in on the scoring. The 400 B free relay was seventh (3:41.50) behind Polasky, senior Paul Gagne, Paul Lutz and Lynch, and the 200 B free relay finished eighth (1:42.28) behind Gagne, sophomore Chris Guinen, freshman Elliot St. Amour and Lynch.
Lutz was ninth in the 100 back (1:04.61) and 10th in the 200 IM (2:24.65), and Polasky was ninth in the 100 fly (1:02.24) and 15th in the 100 back (1:12.29).
Thuli was ninth in the 100 breaststroke (1:11.29) and 11th in the 200 IM (2:24.74), and Gagne was 10th in the 50 free (24.17) and 11th in the 100 fly (1:02.84).
Toye was 12th in the 200 free (2:05.47) and 14th in the 500 free (5:52.65), while freshman Ian Cruse took 15th in the 100 back (1:15.45) and Cory Vines finished 16th in the 100 fly (1:12.28).
'Assistant coach Corey Mukai has worked hard with the boys JV team this year, and it paid off,' Hegwood said. 'The JV boys also had some really amazing time drops and quite a few wins across the board. As we said early to the team, we practice as a team, we cheer has a team and we have fun as a team. No matter if one of our swimmer/divers were JV or varsity, we did this all as a team.'
