The Wauwatosa Hurricanes finished second, had three winners and set two records at the annual Bob White Invitational on Jan. 30 at Tosa West.

The Brookfield Barracudas scored 484 points, and Tosa was next with 369. The New Berlin Marlins were third with 331.

'I was super proud of the team's accomplishments,' coach Heidi Hegwood said. 'Wauwatosa put up a good fight against the reigning champion Brookfield. Brookfield is a tough team to beat, but just to be in the running with them is an honor.'

Junior Danny Larson won two individual events and was on the winning 200 medley relay.

With Larson on the first-place 200 medley relay (1:46.94) was senior Joey Rampolla, sophomore Nick Thuli and junior anchor Cal Hartt.

Larson took first in both the 200 freestyle (1:46.88) and in the 100 butterfly (53.42). He also broke the 100 butterfly record, which was held by Jake Falk, an East graduate in 2015. Falk's record was a 54.42, and Larson set it with a 53:42.

Other top placers

Tosa had one second-place finish in the 400 free relay (3:28.31) behind Hartt, Caleb Vollmers, Thuli and Larson.

Other point scorers were Hartt, third in the 200 free (1:51.97) and fourth in the 100 fly (57.41), and senior Avery Weishoff, who was third in 1-meter diving (381.55 points).

Weishoff broke the 2011 dive record (372.60) previously held by Shawn Roll.

Rampolla finished third in the 100 backstroke (1:02.46) and fourth in the 100 free (55.06), and Vollmers was fifth in the 500 free (5:17.91) and seventh in the 200 free (1:57.24).

Thuli placed fifth in the 100 breaststroke (1:10.25) and eighth in the 200 IM (2:20.88).

The 200 free relay took sixth (1:40.67) behind Rampolla, senior Paul Gagne, senior Brandon Toye and Vollmers.

3 B Relays score

Tosa had three B relays get on the board.

The 400 free B relay took eighth (3:50.94) behind sophomore Henry Lutz, senior Henry Lynch, junior Matheau St. Amour and Toye.

The 200 free B relay took ninth (1:46.24) behind sophomore Nick Haydin, St. Amour, sophomore Chris Guinen and Lynch.

Finally, the 200 medley B relay finished ninth behind Lutz, senior Peter Minix, senior Ryan Polasky and Gagne.

Gagne was ninth in the 50 free (25.30), and Lynch was 12th in the 200 free (2:03.66).

Three swimmers who scored in two events were Lutz, who was 10th in the back (1:09.83) and 13th in 500 free (5:57.10); Toye, who was 11th in the 500 free (5:55.74) and 13th in the 200 free (2:06.56); and Polasky, who took 13th in the 100 back (1:11.08) and 16th in the 100 fly (1:03.84).

Sophomore Jacob Lueck finished 15th in 1-meter diving (233.80).

The Hurricanes will take part in the Woodland Conference Meet on Saturday, Feb. 6, at Greenfield along with Brown Deer/University School of Milwaukee, Cudahy, New Berlin, Shorewood, South Milwaukee, St. Thomas More/St. Francis, Whitnall and Greenfield/Greendale/Pius XI.
