Denver Broncos quarterback Peyton Manning (18) looks at the Vince Lombardi Trophy after beating the Carolina Panthers in Super Bowl 50 at Levi's Stadium.

Joshua Dobbs on Saturday became the first Tennessee quarterback to hear his name called in the NFL draft since 2010. Other than Peyton Manning, Vol quarterbacks have a spotty history in the league. Bobby Scott and Pat Ryan enjoyed extended careers as backups then there's a big drop-off.

Here is a chart of UT quarterbacks who have been drafted, beginning with the T-formation era arriving at Tennessee in 1963. Several single-wing backs were drafted before that, but not primarily as quarterbacks. Others have made rosters as free agents after being passed over by the draft.

1968, Dewey Warren: 6th round, 155 overall, by Cincinnati.

Comment: Warren made four starts in his one season with the Bengals.

1971, Bobby Scott: 14th round, 340 overall, by New Orleans.

Comment: Scott played nine years from 1973-81, primarily backing up Archie Manning. He started 14 games. Scott finished his pro career in the USFL.

1974, Gary Valbuena: 10th round, 260 overall, by Miami.

Comment: Valbuena got waived and played for a while in the World Football League.

1975, Condredge Holloway: 12th round, 306 overall, by New England.

Comment: The Patriots envisioned Holloway as a defensive back. He went to the Canadian Football League, thrived and was elected to the CFL Hall of Fame.

1978, Pat Ryan: 11th round, 281 overall, New York Jets.

Comment: Ryan lasted 13 years as a backup, 12 with the Jets and one with the Eagles. He appeared in 145 games, starting 19. His 31 NFL touchdown passes are second to Manning among ex-Vols.

1989, Jeff Francis: 6th round, 140 overall, L.A. Raiders.

Comment: Francis was around for three years and appeared in one game, with Cleveland. He retired with a 100-percent completion mark, 2-for-2.

1994, Heath Shuler: 1st round, 3 overall, Washington.

Comment: A four-year career was sabotaged by injuries and doomed Shuler to "bust" status. He made 22 starts, threw 15 TD passes and 33 interceptions.

Heath Shuler later returned to Washington as a congressman.

1995, Jerry Colquitt: 6th round, 191 overall, Carolina.

Comment: Waived before he attempted a pass.

1998, Peyton Manning: 1st round, 1st overall, Indianapolis.

Comment: 17 seasons, 539 touchdown passes, 71,940 yards. Two Super Bowl rings, one in Indy, one in Denver.

2000, Tee Martin: 5th round, 163 overall, Pittsburgh.

Comment: He played three years and completed six passes. His best work was in 2002 in NFL Europe with the Rhein Fire. Got a taste of Canada before retiring.

2008, Eric Ainge: 5th round, 162 overall, New York Jets.

Comment: Three years on the roster but no regular-season appearances.

2010, Jonathan Crompton: 5th round, 168 overall, San Diego.

Comment: Crompton toured training camps and practice squads but his only real action came in the CFL in Edmonton and Montreal.

2017, Joshua Dobbs: 4th round, 135 overall, Pittsburgh.

Comment: Seventeen years after Martin, the Steelers try another Tennessee quarterback.
