The Tosa Swordfish competed in Brookfield and Menomonee Falls the weekend of June 2.
The 8-and-under age group had the opportunity to swim at Brookfield East High School's 25-yard pool on June 2. A few of the top performers for the meet were Gavin Steele (8 years old) placing 12th in the 25 freestyle. Josie Schwake (8) earned eighth place in the 25 breaststroke. In the 100 individual medley, Schwake took home 14th while teammate Eliana Putnam (8) placed 15th.
The Swordfish came to Menomonee Falls High School on June 3 and 4, where multiple fast swims took place. To begin, in high point awards, Olivia Small (10) won her age group and Lily Bartz (10) took fourth. In the 8-and-under age group, Hayley Shada (8) placed eighth.
Team records fell at the meet with Small taking second place with a new record in the 100 butterfly (1:20.70). London Chase (10) posted a record in the 200 breaststroke (3:28.50) earning fourth place. Bridget Thuli (15) took first place with her new record in the 200 breaststroke (2:40.83). Jacob Thuli (12) had a great day with records set in 200 breaststroke (3:47.77), 200 butterfly (3:35.94) and the 1000 freestyle (16:59.51).
Many Swordfish placed near the top for the meet. Taking first place in their respective age groups were: Small (50 butterfly), Bridget Thuli (100 breaststroke and 200 IM), Jacob Thuli (200 IM), and Lauren Malinowski (13) (100 and 200 freestyle and 100 butterfly). Placing second were Bartz (200 freestyle and 50 backstroke), Maddie A. Bartz (13) (200 backstroke), Small (50 and 100 freestyle and 100 breaststroke), Bridget Thuli (100 backstroke) and Shada (25 backstroke).
Tosa Swordfish coaches would like to mention these athletes for impressive improvement for the meet: Lauren Wunderlich (13) (1000 freestyle); Nikki Cornwall (12) and Aiden Koops (12) (100 backstroke); Jack Haessly (11), Kelly Onan (15), Paige Seehawer (11), and Audrey Sellinger (9) in 100 freestyle. In the 200 freestyle, Samantha Bartelt (11), Liam McCarthy (11), Seehawer, and Cornwall dropped time. Personal records were set in the individual medleys by Lily Bartz and Maeve Haley (12), as well as by Shada in the 50 breaststroke. In the 100 breaststroke, Vivian Falk (10), Sylvi Teich (13) and Koops swam best times, as well.
