The Tosa Swordfish competed well at the Menomonee Falls Spring Sprints swim meet on May 6.
Multiple Tosa swimmers placed in the top eight for high point awards in their age group. Hayley Shada (8 years old) placed sixth in the girls 8-and-under category. In the girls 9-10 age group, Anna Miler (10) took second place, Meghan Cady (10) placed third, Olivia Small (10) was fourth, Lily Bartz (10) took seventh and Jacquelyn Brown (9) was eighth. In the 11-12 boys division, Alexander Repikov placed fourth overall.
Team records were set as well, with Miler posting a time of 35.45 in the 50 backstroke, Small swimming a 34.15 in the 50 butterfly and Repikov setting a new 50 freestyle record of 28.50 and 34.31 in the 50 backstroke.
Many Swordfish placed near the top in the 10-and-under category with Josie Schwake (8) taking third in the 25 breaststroke, Tyce Ortega (9) third in the 50 backstroke and Jacquelyn Brown (9) went home with third in the 50 breaststroke.
The 10-year-olds swam as well with Bartz earning third in the 50 backstroke and Cady notching a third-place finish in the 50 butterfly. Small placed second in both the 50 butterfly and 50 freestyle. Miler showed strong walking home with second-place finishes in the 100 individual medley, 50 backstroke, 50 breaststroke and third in the 50 freestyle.
Repikov performed well by taking second in the 50 freestyle and third in the 50 backstroke. Lauren Malinowski (13) had a good day with first-place finishes in the 100 butterfly and 200 IM, and ended by taking third in the 100 breaststroke.
Notable performances demonstrating great improvement and new personal records were shown by Kelly Onan (15) and Alma Hagopian-Smith (10) in the 200 IM. Jack Haessly (11) dropped over six seconds in his 50 backstroke and Devin Long (9) posted a new best time in her 50 breaststroke.
