Wauwatosa East's boys track and field team competed in a pair of meets last week, taking seventh at the Mike Gain Spartan Invitational on April 18 at Brookfield East High School before earning a third-place finish at the Viking Invitational at Wisconsin Lutheran High School on April 22.
The Red Raiders scored 55.5 points to come in seventh at Brookfield East behind the host Spartans at 148 points, Arrowhead at 106.5 points, Nicolet at 66 points, Kettle Moraine at 63 points, Menomonee Falls at 58.5 points and Catholic Memorial at 56.5 points.
At Wisconsin Lutheran, with 68.33 points, Tosa East edged Oconomowoc by 2.33 points for third place behind Whitefish Bay at 99.83 points and Wisconsin Lutheran at 74 points.
Mike Gain Invitational
Jacob Odrzywolski had Tosa East's best individual finish at the Mike Gain Invitational, finishing as the runner-up in the 3,200-meter run in 10 minutes, 15.42 seconds. The relay team of Donovan Hunt, Cyrus Taylor, Avery Luckett and Lewis Huenink came in second in the 4x200 in 1:31.34, and Matthew Kubicek, Taylor, Luckett and Scott Henry were second in the 4x100 in 43.99 seconds.
Huenink took third in the 200 in 22.98 seconds, Chase Roberts placed third in the 400 in 51.40 seconds and sixth in the 200 in 23.66 seconds, Hunt was fourth in the 100 in 11.73 seconds, and Henry was fifth in the 100 in 11.76 seconds.
Also earning top-10 finishes were Jalen Holley (sixth in 300 hurdles in 43.27 seconds), Max Finco (sixth in 800 in 2:06.29), Cole Tate (eighth in high jump at 5 feet, 8 inches), Jacarri Oldham (10th in the 400 in 54.95 seconds) and Sean Lessila (10th in triple jump at 38 feet).
Tosa East won a pair of relay titles at the Viking Invitational, claiming first place in the 4x100 and in the 4x200.
Taylor, Henry, Luckett and Huenink teamed to win the 4x100 in 43.82 seconds, and Roberts, Hunt, Luckett and Taylor won the 4x200 in 1:30.26. The relay team of Andrew Casey, Finco, Jack Sveum and Tyree came in third in the 4x800 in 8:31.78.
Huenink took second in the 100 in 11.22 seconds, and Hunt was the runner-up in the 200 in 22.68 seconds.
Kubicek placed fourth in the 110 hurdles in 16.09 seconds, Jalen Walls was sixth in the discus with a top throw of 111-04, Henry took seventh in the 100 in 11.58 seconds, Ian Tyree was seventh in the 1,600 in 4:46.85, Holley claimed seventh in the 110 hurdles in 16.68 seconds and 10th in the 300 hurdles in 44.80 seconds, and Cody Kincaid was seventh in the shot put at 41-08 3/4. Roberts came in ninth in the 200 in 23.17 seconds, Finco was 10th in the 800 in 2:07.33, and Eli Werner was 10th in the 3,200 in 10:38.36.
