Wauwatosa East's boys tennis team went 1-2 at the annual Trojan-Raider Invitational on April 22 at Hart Park, but the Red Raiders weren't far off from two additional wins.
Tosa East cruised to a 7-0 win over Waukesha West and fell, 5-2, to Bay Port and 4-3 to Sheboygan North. The Red Raiders lost a pair of matches in third-set tiebreakers in each defeat.
Josh Erdtmann and Alex Hayek each were 3-0 for the invitational at No. 1 and No. 2 singles, while Quinn Wedel earned two wins.
Tosa East won three of four singles flights against Sheboygan North, with Erdtmann winning 6-1, 6-3 at No. 1, Hayek claiming a 6-3, 6-2 win at No. 2 and Wedel winning 5-7, 6-0, 10-3 at No. 3. The Red Raiders lost all three doubles flights to the Vikings, but both Jacob Muenzenberger and Vince Teofilo at No. 1 and Same Benes and Jordan Salentine at No. 3 lost third-set tiebreakers.
Erdtmann needed three sets to win at No. 1 singles against Bay Port, 6-3, 4-6, 10-8. Hayek won, 6-4, 6-0, at No. 3 singles. Mitchell Weinberg-Kinsey fell in three sets at No. 2 singles, as did Muenzenberger and Teofil and Benes and Salentine.
