Had the Wauwatosa West girls track and field team only brought Cheri’A Adams to the Woodland Conference Indoor Championships, the Trojans would have put forth a solid finish.
But Adams had plenty of help, as Tosa West scored 119 team points to roll to the Woodland Conference Indoor title on April 7 at UW-Parkside by 25 points over second-place South Milwaukee.
Winning individual conference titles in four events, Adams contributed 40 points to the cause, which alone would have tied Whitnall for seventh place at the 12-team meet.
Adams took first place in the 55-meter dash in 7.46 seconds and in the 200 dash in 27.27 seconds. She also won the long jump at 16 feet, 8.75 inches and the triple jump at 35-3 1/2.
The other event championship for the Trojans came from Breanna Weigman, who won the high jump by clearing 5 feet.
Weigman also was second to Adams in the 200 with a time of 27.30 seconds and fourth in the 55 dash in 7.46 seconds.
"We had a great team meet lead by Cheri'A," Tosa West coach Jack LoPresti said. "She is an awesome competitor and a great team leader. Four first-place finishes are super impressive. We also had great performances by Breanna Weigman."
Lauren Nemitz was the runner-up in the high jump, clearing 4-08, and took third in the long jump at 16-0.
Kayla Crump placed second in the 55 hurdles in 9.42 seconds, Dasia Davis was third in the shot put with a top throw of 32-11, Charis Riebe came in fourth in the triple jump at 33 4 1/2 and Kim Mai took fifth in the pole vault clearing 8 feet.
Tosa West was fifth in the 4x400 relay in 4 minutes, 30.81 seconds and fifth in the 4x200 in 1:56.65.
