It was a busy Saturday for members of the Wauwatosa Hurricanes boys swimming and diving team.
Not only did the Hurricanes take part in the Rocket Invitational at South Milwaukee High School, but four swimmers also participated in the Bulldog Invitational at Cedarburg High School.
Wauwatosa came in seventh as a team in both events, with Danny Larson, Cal Hartt, Nick Thuli and Caleb Vollmers leading the way.
The Hurricanes accumulated 142 team points to finish three points ahead of eighth-place Whitnall. Muskego won the 14-team meet with 436.5 points, followed by Kenosha Tremper, New Berlin, Oak Creek, Kenosha Indian Trail, Waukesha West/Mukwonago and Wauwatosa.
Hartt won the 200-yard freestyle in 1 minute, 48.32 seconds, and Larson claimed the 200 IM in 1:59.44.
Wauwatosa won the 200 medley relay in 1:42.25 with the team of Larson, Thuli, Hartt and Vollmers. Thuli came in fifth in the 200 IM in 2:14.87, and Ian Kruse took 10th in the 100 breaststroke in 1:11.38.
Wauwatosa also came in seventh at the Bulldog Invitational, coming in just a half of a point behind sixth-place Plymouth. Franklin took the crown among the 16 competing schools, with Grafton, Cedarburg, Menomonee Falls and West Bend rounding out the top five.
Larson claimed second place in the 200 freestyle with a time of 1:44.70 and came in third place in the 100 butterfly in 54.07. Hartt was second in the 100 butterfly in 53.95 and second in the 500 freestyle in 4:54.54.
Vollmers took seventh in the 500 freestyle in 5:16.70, and Thuli was eighth in the 200 IM in 2:17.17 and eighth in the 100 breaststroke in 1:08.39.
The Hurricanes used the team of Larson, Thuli, Vollmers and Hartt to take fourth in the 200 freestyle relay in 1:33.84 and fourth in the 400 freestyle relay in 3:25.00.
