Former Wauwatosa West girls tennis standout Alicia Picard has been named the Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference Freshman of the Year following her first season at Edgewood College.

Picard went 7-9 overall and 6-3 in NACC play at No. 1 singles, winning three of her final four singles matches. She also went 9-9 overall and 6-3 in conference at No. 1 doubles with partner Alyssa Carew.

A two-time state qualifier for the Trojans, Picard is the third player in Edgewood College history to earn NACC Freshman of the Year. Picard and Carew were also all-NACC in singles and doubles, becoming the first freshmen to accomplish that feat since 2010.

Picard was also named NACC women's tennis student-athlete of the week for the week of Sept. 19-25.
