Wauwatosa East's girls tennis team will return 10 players from in 2017, including eight that competed at subsectionals this past season.

The Red Raiders named junior Allison Gleesing as the team's Most Valuable Player, while sophomore Grace Dempsey took home Most Improved honors and junior Erin O'Brien earned the Coaches Award.

Wauwatosa East will graduate seniors Alyssa Poe, Hannah Green and Aylin Ikizek.

"Next year I have 10 players back who lettered," Wauwatosa East coach Glen Slonac said. "I feel the team should be much improved next year, but I need the girls working in the offseason."

Gleesing will return after playing last season at No. 1 singles, as will sophomore Mary McMahon at No. 2 singles and freshman Ellie Murphy, who made sectionals at No. 3 singles.

Also back are No. 4 singles player Katie Swenson; the No. 1 doubles team of Kat Terwlep and O'Brien; and the No. 2 doubles team of Dempsey and Katie Williams.
