Wauwatosa East's girls swimming and diving team scored 216.5 team points to come in fifth place at the Greater Metro Conference Championships on Oct. 29 at Brookfield Central High School.
Menomonee Falls/Sussex Hamilton won the team title with 645 points, while Brookfield Central (523.5) took second and Brookfield East (504.5) placed third.
Freshman Anne Marie Tuffnell took eighth place in the 50-yard freestyle with a time of 27.33 and 10th in the 100 freestyle in 1:00.16. Junior Ingrid Meulemans came in eighth in the 500 freestyle in 5:49.36 and 10th in the 200 freestyle in 2:13.06.
Also earning top-10 finishes were junior Sydney Netko (ninth in 1-meter dive at 269.95), sophomore Anna Busalacchi (10th in 500 freestyle in 5:56.88) and junior Elizabeth Peura (10th in 100 backstroke in 1:08.47).
The relay team of senior Abby Gifford, sophomore Becca Lennie, senior Madeleine Jamieson and junior Anna Martin took eighth in the 200 medley relay in 2:12.22.
In the 400 medley relay, Peura, Busalacchi, Meulemans and Tuffnell took seventh in 4:05.31.
Sophomore Ellie Romfoe, freshman Aydan Peterson, senior Madeline Ladd and sophomore Amaya Ibanez-Baldor placed 10th in the 200 freestyle in 1:59.25.
The Red Raiders will compete in the WIAA Division 1 Waukesha South/Mukwonago sectional at Waukesha South High School. The diving portion of the sectional is at 6:30 p.m. Friday, Nov. 4, while the swimming portion will begin at 2 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 5.
