The Tosa Swordfish swimming club competed among 154 athletes at the Elmbrook Swim Club's Fall Classic swim meet Oct. 15.

The Fall Classic was held for swimmers 12 years old and under at Brookfield East High School's 25-yard pool.

Drew Miler (10 years old) had an outstanding day with four first-place events, including a state-qualifying swim in the 50 freestyle (32.39 seconds). His twin sister, Anna Miler(10), placed fourth in both the 50 breaststroke and 100 individual medley. Teammate Zoe Kunz (10) also swam well, taking third in both the 50 breaststroke and 100 IM.

In the nine-year-old events, Julian Cortright competed and came away with first places in the 50 freestyle, 50 breaststroke and 100 IM.  His teammate, London Chase, earned first place in the 100 IM and fifth place in both the 50 butterfly and 50 freestyle. Jackie Brown swam hard, coming home with sixth place in the 50 backstroke.

Alexander Repikov (11) placed third in the 50 backstroke and fourth in the 50 freestyle. Lauren Malinowski (12) broke three of her own team records in the 50 freestyle (26.39), 50 butterfly (28.39) and 100 IM (1:06.70), earning first place in all three events. Maddie A. Bartz (12) also broke her own team record in the backstroke (30.79) in placing third. Nora Engbring, Lauren Wunderlich and Maeve Haley all finished with personal-best performances.

The Tosa Swordfish will compete next at the 2016 Express State/Non-State meet hosted by the Waukesha Express Swim Team on Nov. 6 at Waukesha South High School.
