The Wauwatosa Swordfish swimming club competed at the Silver State Championship Meet at the Rec Plex in Pleasant Prairie from July 22-24.

Swimming the 400-meter individual medley for the first time, Lauren Malinowski (12 years old) achieved a state qualifying time of 6:00.04, which also set a new club record. Malinowski has qualified for state in eight different events this season. She broke her own team record in the 100-meter butterfly with a 1:12.87. She also beat her own records in the 100-meter freestyle and 200-meter individual medley.

Maddie A. Bartz (12) qualified for the state meet in her fourth event by swimming a 2:49.83 in the 200-meter backstroke, breaking an 8-year-old club record. Bartz also beat her own team record in the 100-meter backstroke

Bridget Thuli (14) set a new team record in the 200-meter individual medley by dropping over three seconds off her time to a 2:49.81.

Bella Palazzari (14) beat her own record in the 400-meter individual medley. She dropped almost 8 seconds to finish with a time of 6:21.32. Isabella Sandroni (9) swam in her first-ever meet, competing in the 50-meter freestyle and 50-meter backstroke. Lily Bartz (10) dropped almost 30 seconds off her 100-meter freestyle, finishing in 1:40.16.

Drew Miler (10), Lily Owley (9), Ellie Owley (12), Morgan Festerling (9), and Zoe Kunz (10)  swam the 200-meter freestyle for the first time.
