Thursday 12/8

Family Storytime: The whole family can participate in stories, songs and movement during this session from 6:30 to 7 p.m. at the Wauwatosa Public Library, 7635 W. North Ave. Just drop by.

Love Lights: Luther Manor, 4545 N. 92nd St., will mark the Advent season with a tree-lighting ceremony at 4:30 p.m. in the Welcome Center. The Love Lights tree is illuminated in blue to signify hope for continued blessings in the lives of all who live at Luther Manor. For information, call Luther Manor at 414-831-8950.

Secret Holiday Workshop: The McKinley PTO will host its annual Secret Holiday Workshop from 3:20 to 6:30 p.m. in the main gym at McKinley Elementary School, 2435 N 89th St. The event will feature more than 32 vendors selling homemade items for $10 or less. The Girl Scouts will host a bake sale and all proceeds from their sale will help families in need during the holidays.

Wauwatosa Tree Lighting: Horse-drawn carriage rides, kids crafts, a tree lighting and a visit from Santa are planned from 5:45 to 9 p.m. at Root Common, 1411 Wauwatosa Ave. The tree lighting will begin the evening.

Winter Concert: The Wisconsin Lutheran College Concert Band presents its winter concert at 7:30 p.m. in the Center for Arts and Performance Schwan Concert Hall, 8815 W. Wisconsin Ave. The WLC Concert Band will perform works by Leonard Bernstein, Thomas Doss, Julius Fučík, Gioacchino Rossini, and Philip Sparke. Tosa East musical: The Tosa East Players present “The World Goes ‘Round,” featuring the songs of Kander and Ebb at 7:30 p.m. at the newly-remodeled Dale K. Hidde Theatre at Wauwatosa East High School, 7500 Milwaukee Ave., Wauwatosa. (Also Saturday at 7:30 p.m. and Sunday at 2 p.m.) Tickets are available online at www.tosaeasttheatre.org or at the door.

Open Swim: The swimming pool at Wauwatosa East High School, 7500 Milwaukee Ave., will be open to the public from 12:15 to 2:15 p.m. Admission costs $2 per adult, $1 per child up to age 17 and $1 for adults 62 and older. Children 7 and younger must be accompanied in the water by an adult. Water wings, inflated tubes, masks and snorkels are not allowed.

Lunch with Santa: Lunch with Santa will be served at noon (also on Sunday) at the Milwaukee County Zoo, 10001 W. Bluemound Road. Live music will be offered, and each child will get a gift. Tickets cost $20 per child or adult; children 2 and younger get in for $6. Price includes Zoo admission and lunch. Zoological Society membership is not valid. Parking costs $12.

Packers vs. Seahawks: The game will be shown on a 10-foot projection screen and 60-inch LED televisions in the Grand Hall at The Landing at Hoyt Park and Pool, 1800 N. Swan Blvd., from 2:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. The beer garden will be open.

Story Time: Children 3 to 6 years of age can discover stories, prereading skills, songs, movement and crafts at 1:30 p.m. at the Wauwatosa Public Library, 7635 W. North Ave.

Card game: The Wauwatosa Senior Club meets every Tuesday and Wednesday from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. to play cards at the Wauwatosa Civic Center, 7725 W. North Ave. The club is open to all area residents 50 or older and is sponsored by the Wauwatosa School District Recreation Department. For information, call 414-479-8900, ext. 5789.

Wauwatosa Community Band: The Wauwatosa Community Band will present it winter concert with an English flair at 7:30 p.m. at Longfellow Middle School, 76th Street and North Avenue.  This 60-piece concert band is directed by Donna Kummer, and the evening’s announcer will be Gladys Chmiel. Tickets cost $5 for adults and $3 for students and seniors. Refreshments will be served afterward.

Wednesday 12/14

Karaoke: Take the stage and sing during Karaoke Night at the Chancery, 7615 W. State St., at 9 p.m. This event is held every Wednesday.
