Tosa East teacher named educator of distinction
Jennifer Lato, band director at Wauwatosa East High School, was selected as a Claes Nobel Educator of Distinction by the National Society of High School Scholars. Lato was nominated for her outstanding dedication and commitment to excellence in the classroom.
According to the society, student members are invited to nominate the educator who has made the most significant contribution to their academic endeavors. The honor recognizes exemplary educators whose passion and devotion inspire their students to grow and develop as scholars, leaders and citizens.
'Mrs. Lato is a tremendous educator and leader of the Wauwatosa East Marching Band,' said Wauwatosa East Principal Nick Hughes. 'Our students are provided endless learning opportunities in and out of the classroom because of her leadership and dedication to the program. She is certainly worthy of this honor.'
School district calendar receives recognition
The Wauwatosa School District has been honored by the National School Public Relations Association for its 2015-2016 Save the Date for Learning print calendar.
The calendar, a Wauwatosa School District tradition for generations, earned an honorable mention in the annual Publications and Electronic Media Awards.
Each school year, the calendar is provided to families and community members to assist them in planning for school and district events. It also provides valuable information to the community about the accomplishments, activities and learning opportunities that happen each day in the Wauwatosa School District.
Wauwatosa was one of four Wisconsin school districts recognized by the association for its communication efforts.
