The Neighborhood Association Council of Wauwatosa has announced the selection of the novel 'A Man Called Ove' by Swedish author Fredrik Backman for the fourth annual Tosa's All-City Read.

The council solicited title suggestions from book clubs and individuals throughout Wauwatosa, and a panel of literature teachers, librarians and book club experts selected the final title.

The Neighborhood Association Council has pioneered a common reading program in Wauwatosa as a way to get neighbors 'on the same page' and increase participation in neighborhood associations. Its previous selections were 'Rocket Boys' by Homer H. Hickam, 'Orphan Train' by Christina Baker Kline and 'Peace Like a River' by Leif Enger.

The majority of All-City Read events will take place in February 2017. Events may include book discussions, guest speakers, a writing contest, Swedish and Iranian cultural events, and a return of the popular Battle of the Bartenders competition.

In conjunction with the adult novel, the Tosa's All-City Read committee will be suggesting a number of children's books with themes similar to 'A Man Called Ove,' so that families may read together and enjoy book discussions at home.
