SWCW Scholarship Night honors Tosa teachers

The Suburan Woman's Club of Wauwatosa invites the public to a presentation of scholarship awards to Wauwatosa teachers that will help them to pursue advanced course work. The event is at 6:30 p.m. Monday, May 2, at the Wauwatosa Civic Center, 7725 W. North Avenue.

The event inlcudes a performance by Roosevelt Elementary School members of the Mad Hot Ballroom and Tap program led by music teacher Peggy Paar, whose program is a past recipient of a scholarship.

Library hosts children's program on eyes

The Wauwatosa Public Library, 7635 W. North Ave., presents Your Amazing Eyes story time, presented by Prevent Blindness Wisconsin from 10 to 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, April 20, in the children's story room. This program is most appropriate for families with children ages 3 and older.

The day includes free children's vision screenings that will be offered immediately following the program. Registration is not required.

Get up to speed on

the Florentine Opera

The Wauwatosa Public Library, 7635 W. North Ave., presents Florentine Opera Insights, a free presentation given by Corliss Phillabaum, professor of theater at University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee's Peck School of the Arts from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. Saturday, April 23, in the Firefly Room.

Opera Insights take a closer look at the upcoming opera performance. Attendees are treated to arias, duets and small ensembles performed by the Florentine Opera Chorus.

Milwaukee NARI plans annual rummage sale

The Milwaukee NARI Foundation, Inc., the educational and charitable arm of the Milwaukee NARI Home Improvement Council, Inc., will host its 11th annual home improvement rummage sale from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Friday, May 6, in the parking lot of Milwaukee NARI member Milwaukee Millwork, 11712 W. Dixon St.

Some of the materials likely to be for sale include appliances, awnings, lumber, decking materials, windows, lighting fixtures, and much more.

Merchandise that remains at the close of the sale at 4 p.m. will be donated to Habitat for Humanity of Waukesha County, Inc.

Any person who makes a rummage sale purchase will receive two tickets for the 2016 Milwaukee NARI Tour of Remodeled Homes on Saturday and Sunday, May 14 and 15. Attendees also will receive the 2016 Milwaukee NARI Membership Directory and the association's Remodeling Guide.
