Four adult male coyotes were trapped and tagged in the Wauwatosa area over the last week, according to an online tracking report,

The animals were fitted with uniquely colored tags on their ears in order to make them more readily identifiable to staff and members of the public that are reporting interactions in the target area.

The tagging is part of a new initiative through Milwaukee County Parks — which began in early February and will last through March — and aims to keep track of the animals.

The Parks Department, Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources, and Urban Canid Project researchers are collaborating to prepare a coyote management plan for Milwaukee County, to implement coyote population monitoring, and to conduct educational outreach in targeted areas of the county.
