A local Kentucky Fried Chicken restaurant was robbed late Wednesday morning, Wauwatosa police reported.

Law enforcement responded to the restaurant, located at 6706 W. North Ave., around 10:45 a.m. Feb. 10, Lt. Brian Zalewski of the Wauwatosa Police Department said.

The suspect fled the scene before police arrived, but was armed with a handgun, Zalewski said.

No one was injured during the incident and there was no threat to residents in the area. Zalewski did not know how much money the suspect took from the restaurant.

The suspect was described as a black male wearing a blue face mask, a black winter jacket with a black hoodie sweat shirt underneath and dark pants. The suspect was about 6 feet tall and had a thin build.

Those with information are encouraged to contact the Wauwatosa Police Department. Along with the help of Wauwatosa Crime Stoppers, the police department now offers residents to 'Text-A-Tip.' The service allows residents to text in tips to the department and stay anonymous.

Further, the new technology allows police to communicate with the tipster if needed. All tips are eligible for a reward of up to $1,000. To send in a tip, send a text message to CRIMES (274637) and include 'Tosa' in the first line of your message.
