Local resident Craig Wentzel said he plans to run a write-in campaign to win the District 6 aldermanic seat in Wauwatosa.
Wentzel, 64, said he plans to start knocking on doors informing residents of his candidacy once the bitter cold winter temperatures start to fade away. Wentzel said he was born in Wauwatosa and graduated from Wauwatosa West High School in 1969. After spending some time away from Wauwatosa, he returned to the city so his daughter could attend the public schools.
Wentzel is retired from a career in the manufacturing field, where he most recently worked as a plant operations manager.
The seat is currently held by Alderman Jeff Roznowski who announced he would not seek re-election this spring.
Whichever write-in candidate receives the highest number of votes on April 5 will win the vote. If there are no write-in candidates, the common council will appoint an alderperson.
