A prominent office tower would be torn down and a pair of new restaurants would take its place under a proposal to be taken up by the Wauwatosa Plan Commission.

Uncle Julio's, an upscale Mexican restaurant, and Seasons 52, a fresh grill and wine bar with a seasonal menu, are being proposed for the northeast corner of Mayfair Road and North Avenue, at 2300 N. Mayfair Road, according to documents filed with the city.

A vacant office tower on the site would be torn down if the project is approved.

The proposed restaurants are on the agenda for discussion at the May 8 plan commission meeting. If the commission approves the proposal, it would move to the Wauwatosa Common Council for approval.

Uncle Julio's is based in Dallas, Texas and defines itself as a "polished casual leader in the upscale Mexican restaurant category." They currently have 29 restaurants open in the U.S., including six in the Chicago area.

Seasons 52 is run by Darden Restaurants, Inc. and is described as "a fresh grill and wine bar" developed in 2003. "The brand concept is to deliver a sophisticated atmosphere, seasonal menu, and offer fresh ingredients to deliver menu items that are naturally lighter."

The Seasons 52 would be approximately 10,500 square feet.

Uncle Julio's, proposed to be sited slightly south and east of Seasons 52, would be about 9,500 square feet in size.

This would be the first location for both dining options in the greater Milwaukee area.

The developer for both projects is GGP, a retail real estate company headquartered in Chicago that owns and operates Mayfair Mall.
