Touting a combination of made-to-order sandwiches, salads and live, local music, Potbelly Sandwich Shop is opening a new store in Mayfair Mall.
The store will open March 21, according to a release from Potbelly's public relations firm, saying the restaurant has earned a national reputation as the "best place for lunch."
“At Potbelly, we like to know our customers’ names and even their favorite sandwiches,” Potbelly general manager Mark Claesges said. “I’m excited to open the shop in Mayfair Mall, and to serve great food that makes people happy.”
The Wauwatosa shop will be open from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. Mondays through Thursdays and 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. on Fridays and Saturdays. Sunday hours will be 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Delivery service will start on opening day and will be available Monday through Friday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. with minimum orders of $25.
Potbelly was founded in 1977 in an antique shop in Chicago by Peter Hastings. In 1996 the shop was purchased by Bryant Keil, who franchised the name and began to expand to more locations.
The shop will feature sandwiches such as the signature A Wreck and the Grilled Chicken and Cheddar, along with salads, a rotating selection of soups, freshly-baked cookies and hand-dipped milkshakes, according to the release.
The Tosa location will also feature the new Turkey Fresco sandwich made from all-natural, slow-roasted, hand-pulled turkey topped with roasted red peppers, fresh spinach and basil mayonnaise.
To celebrate the launch of the new location, Potbelly is holding a pre-opening event Monday, March 20 from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. and 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. For a $5 cash donation, guests can enjoy a sandwich, chips and a fountain beverage. All proceeds will benefit Eisenhower Elementary School.
The restaurant will also feature live music and is seeking interested performers. Information about becoming one of the musicians playing for customers at Potbelly can be found on potbelly.com.
