Arborists from Hoppe Tree Service on Friday, March 3 brought down a dead oak tree in the Wauwatosa Cemetery, 7725 W. North Ave. The tree service performed the removal for free as a community service for the cemetery.

“The tree is decaying and is a danger,” Hoppe arborist Casey Bailey said. “It was hanging over the road so we had to make sure it was safe for residents to visit the cemetery.”

Hoppe also agreed to do some pruning to a tree that is nearly as old as the cemetery, which was dedicated in 1854.
