Due to bridge repairs, eastbound North Avenue west of the Menomonee River Parkway is reduced to one lane for the coming months.
According to the Wauwatosa city website, contractors are beginning to perform repair work on the two North Avenue bridges that span the Menomonee River and other wetlands.
The lane closure will extend from the Parkway to Met to Wee Lane. Westbound traffic will not be affected. This work is expected to take two to three months depending on weather.
The city said the project involves the installation of new sidewalk and barrier walls. In addition, the existing limestone face will be removed and salvaged for possible reuse during the scheduled full-scale bridge replacement in five to ten years.
