If you or a family member is interested in participating in any of several upcoming beauty pageants, you have an opportunity to refine your skills at a Saturday, Feb. 4 workshop.
The workshop will be held from 1 to 5 p.m. at the Wauwatosa Public Library, 7635 W. North Ave. It acts as a day camp, orientation and workshop for participants in the upcoming competitions.
The pageants are all scheduled for Feb. 25, and are called the Miss Lakeshore, the Miss Lakeshore’s Outstanding Teen, the Miss Milwaukee Area and the Miss Milwaukee Area’s Outstanding Teen Pageants. The winners from the competitions will advance to the Miss Wisconsin Pageant to be held June 14-17. In addition, there is a Princess Day Camp Program for younger children.
“The Miss Milwaukee Area, Lakeshore and Outstanding Teen Pageants offer opportunities for young women to earn scholarship money and achieve their personal and professional ambitions,” executive director Angela Nicholas said. “Contestants also participate in community service activities and develop leadership skills that help them excel in their chosen career and life goals.”
The pageants will be held from 6:30 to 10 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 25 in the Father V. Carney Performing Arts Center at Pius XI Catholic High School, 135 N. 76th St. Doors open at 6 p.m. The program will feature a performance by emcee Miss Wisconsin 2016, Courtney Pelot.
The event will include hors d'oeuvres, a 50/50 raffle, silent and live auctions featuring fashion and beauty items, vacation packages and Green Bay Packers memorabilia. Tickets are available for $20 at the door or at www.missmilwaukeearea.org or www.misslakeshore.org. For more information please call Angela Nicholas at 262-385-6926.
