State Street in Wauwatosa is down to a single lane due to ongoing construction on State Street Station.
The city's website said that contractors performing utility work on State Street between 74th Street and Wauwatosa Avenue is facilitating the necessity for a reduction to one lane of traffic. Workers called "flaggers" are maintaining traffic control for the single lane during daytime work hours only.
After 3:30 p.m. each weekday and for the entirety of the weekend, State Street will be open in both directions. If you are not patronizing local businesses, consider following alternate route signage during the periods that the single lane is open.
The work is expected to be completed by Dec. 16; until completion drivers are urged to use caution driving in the area for the safety of the construction workers, pedestrians and other motorists.
The State Street Station is a four-story retail and apartment building being built at 7400 W. State St.
