A man credited with bolstering and maintaining the membership of the Wauwatosa Chamber of Commerce has died.

John Grno, member account representative for the chamber, died over the Thanksgiving holiday weekend from a heart attack, according to a released statement from the Wauwatosa Chamber of Commerce.

Additional details surrounding Grno's death were not available for this story.

"He was valued by not only our chamber but other chambers in the area as well," said Wauwatosa COC Executive Director Terry Estness. "He was very committed to the Tosa Chamber and the Tosa business community and was a fixture at all of our events."

Grno helped establish a networking organization called Active Business Leads Exchange (ABLE) that assisted him and other chambers in securing and keeping businesses actively involved in their organizations.

"John was a great guy - fun to work with and really invested in the success of the chamber," Estness said. "He always had a smile and was upbeat. We will miss him."

Estness said the chamber would take some time to honor Grno and figure out the best way to move the organization forward.

In a Nov. 2014 Wauwatosa Now story about the Wauwatosa Chamber's 75th anniversary, Grno said the chamber is "not only the cultivator of existing business, but an incubator for the new and growing businesses. We try to tell people we are their marketing tool."

Funeral arrangements are pending.
