Children from Milwaukee area youth groups are set to decorate several evergreen trees at the Milwaukee County Zoo, creating a "Fantastic Forest" for visitors to see.

The kids will place the ornaments on trees, donated by Hawks Landscape, Nov. 30 and Dec. 1 at the zoo. The youths created the varied and colorful animal decorations as a part of Milwaukee's Trim-a-Tree project.

“We are thrilled to be able to bring the Fantastic Forest to the Milwaukee County Zoo and grateful to the
support from Hawks Landscape,” said Robin Higgins, vice president of communications for the zoo. “The trees smell wonderful and the community groups, Scout packs and troops bring a uniqueness to each tree in their thoughtful decorations. People need to spend some time looking at each tree to appreciate the hard work that went into making each decoration.”

Dec. 2 through Dec. 29, visitors will be able to view the "Fantastic Forest" in the zoo’s U.S. Bank Gathering Place.
