Food trucks are coming to Wauwatosa, at least for a couple days this year.
From 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Aug. 25, the community is invited to City Hall, 7725 W. North Ave., to enjoy lunch. A number of food trucks will be in the building's parking lot selling food. It's the first time the city has tried such an event, said Zach Navin, an administrative intern for the city.
"It's open to anybody and everybody," he said, adding that in addition to the food, a number of yard games like bag toss will be available to those who stop by.
Navin said organizers are still trying to sign up a few more vendors, but those who attend can expect options like sushi, barbecue and a truck from Meat on the Street, which sells Filipino cuisine.
The event aims to serve as a community gathering, but it's likely it will also boost morale among city employees, too, he said.
A second day of food trucks is scheduled for Sept. 22. Navin said it's unclear whether more food truck days will be held in the coming months. The food trucks also will be available from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Sept. 22.
