The Wauwatosa Police Department kicked off its National Night Out celebrations Monday, Aug. 1 with four regional block parties in the community.

Tosa's Night Out is normally held at Hart Park, but had to relocate to the Milwaukee County Zoo this year due to ongoing construction in the Village of Wauwatosa. In addition to festivities at the zoo Aug. 3, police attended neighborhood block parties in order to give the event an "at-home feel," Sgt. Brad Beckman has said.

The block party locations included Madison Elementary School, the Fischer building, Longfellow Middle School and Wilson Elementary School and each included a visit from police mascot McGruff, yard games and food for sale.
