Jeremy Walz was approved by the Menomonee Falls Village Board to become the next village president. Walz will be replacing David Glasgow, who resigned as village president to move to Germany. Walz will finish out Glasgow's term, which ends in 2024.

The Menomonee Falls Village Board Dec. 5 voted unanimously to appoint Jeremy Walz as its new village president. Walz has been a village trustee since 2013 and a Waukesha County supervisor since 2014.

Walz succeeds David Glasgow, who had been village president since 2018. Glasgow resigned from his role as village president on Nov. 18 as he will be moving to Germany for a job relocation.

The trustee seat that Walz vacated expires in April 2024. The board voted to fill the seat by appointment of a person who lives in Menomonee Falls.

The board will hold interviews with applicants at a Jan. 3 Committee of the Whole meeting, which is scheduled to begin at 4:30 p.m. They will recommend a candidate for the village board to vote on at their meeting that evening at 6:30 p.m.

The deadline for applicants to submit a resume and a letter of why they want to be on the board is Dec. 21. Walz occupied seat No. 4.

Walz ran for village president against Glasgow in 2018, which Glasgow won, and has been a Waukesha County Supervisor for District 6 since 2014.

Walz, in his position as trustee, sits on the utility board and the public works board. "He has experience in working with multiple staff members," said trustee Katie Kress, in support of Walz.

Walz said he has a "calm, efficient and respectful leadership style" to bring to the board.

"We can be proud and excited about the qualities and direction of our village," Walz said. "With good housing, employment and recreational opportunities, the Falls is and will continue to be a great place to live, work and raise our families."

According to the Waukesha County website, Walz has served in the Army National Guard and is a LDRSHIP Award winner for exemplifying the seven Army values of loyalty, duty, respect, selfless service, honor, integrity and personal courage.  He also won the Battalion Commanders Excellence Award and achieved the rank of sergeant before his honorable discharge.

He will be finishing out Glasgow's term, which ends in 2024.
