Wauwatosa's Lueptow chosen for UWW Hall
Stacey Lueptow of Wauwatosa will be inducted into the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater Athletics Hall of Fame on Oct. 20.
Lueptow, one of eight inductees, will be feted at a banquet on the Whitewater campus. She will also be honored at halftime of the Warhawks' football game that afternoon.
She excelled in track and field for the Warhawks. In 1989, she set school records in the 60 hurdles indoors and the 100 hurdles outdoors, going on to qualify in both events in NCAA Division III championship meets. She placed 11th indoors and ninth outdoors.
In 1990, she earned second place in the WIAC Indoor Meet and second and third places outdoors.
In 1991, she earned All-America honors and finished eighth in the 100 hurdles at the NCAA Division III Outdoor Meet.
She was the team captain and was named the top sprinter for the 1991 Whitewater squad. She left with school indoor and outdoor hurdles records and still owns a piece of the 400 relay mark of 1 minute, 9.54 seconds, set in 1991.
Lueptow is currently a lieutenant in the Wauwatosa Fire Department.
