GIRLS BASKETBALL Trojans lose to Vikings, then beat Brown Deer

Dec. 21, 2011 | 0 comments

The Wauwatosa West girls used a huge third-quarter surge to beat Brown Deer on Tuesday night at West and improve to 4-2 in the Woodland Conference Black Division and 4-3 overall.

The game was tied at 15-15, when the Trojans went on a 15-5 run in the third quarter. Both teams put up 15 points in the final quarter, leaving West the winner at 45-35.

Elise Ditscheit led the way with 10 points, but the Trojans were well-balanced. Paige Soles added nine points while Jenna Lahmann and Latasha Harmon each scored eight points for the Trojans.

Eight players scored for Brown Deer, but no one got to double figures thanks to West coach Ron Gavinski's tough defense.

Sabrina Wimmer and Jasalyn Lee led the Falcons with seven points each.

In Friday's 49-16 loss at New Berlin West, the Trojans scored seven points in the first quarter and went down from there, finishing with four, three and two points in the final three periods.

New Berlin West led 25-11 at intermission and 37-14 after three quarters, then buried the Trojans with a 12-2 final period.

Ditscheit led the way with five points and Soles added four.

Beth Ver Haagh led the Vikings with 15 points and Lizzie Kuhl added 10.
