FOR ALL THE MARBLES

TROJANS AT A GLANCE

Coach: Chad Stelse

Conference: Woodland Black Division

Record: 2-7 overall, 2-4 league

Leading Scorers: Andre Carroll (14.4 ppg), Blake Harvey (8.9), Ricky Landers (8.8), JJ Belknapp (8.6), Steffan Brown (7.7), Will Watkins (5.6)

Schedule: After opening with a four-game losing streak, the Trojans have gone 2-3 in their last five games. Their wins came in league play over Greenfield (65-54) and St. Francis (79-59). They have lost two straight league games they could have won to New Berlin West (58-46) and Brown Deer (66-57).

Summary: Stelse has a talented, but young and inexperienced team that needs to win a close game - and soon - or their confidence could be hurt. But the talent is there and the future is bright.

RED RAIDERS AT A GLANCE

Coach: Tim Arndorfer

Conference: Greater Metro Conference

Record: 7-1 overall, 4-0 league

Leading Scorers: Anthony (AC) Carroll (14.0 ppg), Diamonte (Money) McKinley (9.1), Marquise Carter (8.3), Bryce Kratzer (6.4), Nate Moore (5.2), Vince Cupertino (4.8), Zak Sylvester (4.0)

Schedule: The Red Raiders began the season with a 6-0 record, before losing to the state's top team Germantown, 66-46, in the Wisconsin Basketball Yearbook Shootout. But they bounced back the next night with a 48-36 victory over Arrowhead. They share first place with Brookfield Central in the GMC and both teams should be unbeaten in the league when they meet at Tosa East on Jan. 13.

Summary: The Red Raiders are talented and deep, and they have seen that they must work together to be successful. But they are small. Arndorfer basically starts five guards, as their biggest starters are Sylvester and Cupertino at 6-feet-2 inches. The biggest player in the top nine rotation is Kyle Vnuk, at 6-4. AC has played well this season and is the Red Raiders 'go-to' guy, but Money McKinley and Carter have also had some big shots. East uses great defense to transition into its offense and that is when the Raiders are at their best.
