East vs. West hoops, times six

East Booster spaghetti dinner highlights Jan. 7 lineup

Dec. 27, 2011 | 0 comments

Everyone loves the annual Wauwatosa East vs. Wauwatosa West basketball game. So mark your calendar for Jan. 7 and get the opportunity to see six such games, highlighted by the varsity game at 7:30 p.m.

Get a look at what the future holds for the Tosa East and Tosa West basketball teams in the next three to five years. The action begins at 10 a.m. at Tosa East.

The sixth-grade Jr. Raiders will play the Jr. Trojans to start off the day's basketball bonanza. The freshman team will meet at noon, the seventh-grade teams will meet at 2 p.m. and the eighth-grade squads will meet at 3 p.m.

The gym will then be cleared for the junior varsity teams starting at 5:45 p.m., and the varsity teams will battle at 7:30 p.m.

The Tosa East Athletic Booster annual spaghetti dinner will begin at 5 p.m. Dinner will be served in the learning center/cafeteria area and will feature spaghetti, salad, garlic bread and homemade desserts.

The charge will be $8 for adults and $4 for students ages 8 to 18. Children younger than 8 eat for free. Pay at the door or online at TEBoosterClub.org.

Enter via the 74th street entrance for the dinner and varsity game.

The American Cancer Society will be on hand that day for a Coaches vs. Cancer event to raise money in honor of the late Mike Landisch, former Wauwatosa West boys basketball coach.

"I am really proud of the Red Raiders for committing to fight this disease," coach Tim Arndorfer said. "It's a cause we all connect with, and a fight we can win. Students and team members have gone the extra mile to raise funds and awareness, and we'll be showing off our success during the game on (Jan. 7)."

Landisch's jersey will be retired at Wauwatosa East and a memorial for the former Wauwatosa West coach and Wauwatosa East alum will be held before the game. The American Cancer Society will pass a bucket during the match to collect donations. All proceeds will benefit the Relay For Life of Wauwatosa.
