BOYS SWIM/DIVE Hurricanes blow away South Milwaukee by 27 points

Dec. 20, 2011 | 0 comments

The Wauwatosa Hurricanes beat the Rockets at South Milwaukee on Dec. 14 in the final meet of the 2011 portion of the season.

The Hurricanes won 10 of 12 events, winning 106.5-79.5.

"I am very proud of what our boys did," Hurricanes coach Heidi Goetsch said. "They have been working very hard and this effort is really starting to show in their times.

"However, our work is nowhere near done. Tonight we noticed additional things we need to focus on to improve even more."

The 200-yard medley relay of Edward Lei, Michael Silverling, Stuart Vander Velde and Caleb Hernday (2 minutes, 57.19 seconds); the 200 freestyle relay of Jack Lutz, Peter Hovel, Eddie Galindo and Max Brovarney (1:40.93) and the 400 free of Lutz, Hovel, Hernday and Brovarney (3:45.96) all finished first.

Tosa had double individual winners in Hernday in the 200 individual medley (2:19.65) and the 500 free (5:39.83) and Lutz won gold in two events - the 50 free (25.44) and 100 butterfly (1:03.54).

Other individual winners were Hovel in the 200 free (2:05.40), Galindo in the 100 backstroke (1:04.53) and Tony Benz in the 1-meter diving (165.40).
