DSHA's Koontz signs to play soccer with Wisconsin

Two-time state champion Rachel Koontz of Divine Savior Holy Angels signed a national letter of intent to play soccer at the University of Wisconsin-Madison.

Koontz was named first-team all-state her senior year by the Wisconsin Soccer Coaches Association, as well as all-area player of the year by the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel and first-team all-area. She also was all-conference first-team her junior and senior years and the team's top scorer as a senior.

She also plays basketball at DSHA.

Tosa Kickers accepting spring applications

The Tosa Kickers Soccer Club is accepting applications for the 2010 spring soccer program, which is open to boys and girls ages 5 to 18.

Registration can be done online at mksc.org. If you require a paper registration or have addition questions, e-mail the club at execdir@tosakickers.com. The Tosa Kickers have a Web site with information on all the club's activities at tosakickers.com.

The season will begin the week of April 11, with games beginning April 17 and running through the first week of June. The U6 league practices and plays their games on Saturdays. Other age groups practice twice per week and play on Saturday or Sunday afternoons.

Junior Raiders football registration begins

Registration has begun for the 2010 Junior Raiders football season; the deadline is Feb. 19.

The Junior Raiders will field teams at the fifth- through eighth-grade levels. Everyone who played last year should have been e-mailed an information packet. Those who did not play last year can contact their school office for the signup materials. Only the first 35 registrations received per team will be guaranteed a roster spot.

The Junior Raiders also are looking for coaches, including a head coach at the fifth-grade level. Coaches do not need to have a child on the team, although many have sons that play. Previous coaching or playing experience is preferred, but not necessary. Anyone interested in coaching may call Tom Swittel at (414) 773-2027 or Jake Wolter at (414) 773-2309.
