Ballinger, Krenzien sign national letters of intent

Wauwatosa West High School football player Barry Ballinger and soccer player Sam Krenzien signed national letters of intent in ceremonies at the school Feb. 3.

Ballinger, a linebacker, signed to play football at Minnesota State University Mankato, a Division II school that plays in the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference.

Krenzien signed to play soccer at the University of Wisconsin-Green Bay, a Division I school that plays in the Horizon League.

As a senior, Ballinger, a first-team all-Woodland Conference player, was named an honorable mention all-suburban by NOW Newspapers for his play at linebacker.

NOW Newspapers also named him an honorable-mention all-suburban as a junior, and he also earned second-team all-conference as a junior and an honorable-mention all-conference as a sophomore at linebacker. As a junior, the versatile Ballinger also earned honorable-mention all-conference honors as an offensive lineman.

Following the 2009 season, Krenzien, a multiple all-Woodland Conference selection, received all-state first-team honors as a midfielder by the Wisconsin Soccer Coaches Association. He received all-state honorable-mention honors as a junior.

Krenzien was chosen to take part in the NOW Newspapers/Milwaukee Wave Senior All-Star Game on Jan. 23.
