The Wauwatosa West girls played great defense and beat Whitnall, 37-20, Friday at home, getting some revenge from an earlier loss.
The win improved the Trojans' Woodland Conference record to 9-4, 11-5 overall. The Falcons (5-8, 5-10) had beaten a sluggish Tosa West team, 35-33, Jan. 21.
Coach Mike Pietrowiak's defense came out and slammed the door on the Whitnall Falcons on Friday, holding them to three points in the first half, as the Trojans led 22-3.
Tosa West then came out after intermission and extended the lead to 35-10 going into the final quarter.
Eight Trojans got on the scoreboard as Pietrowiak cleared the bench in the victory.
Jackie Glaser scored nine points, Jenna Engel added eight and Jessica Allemang and Eva Popp had six apiece. Four other players added a basket each.
Tosa West continued to struggle from the free-throw line, hitting only two of six shots, .333 percent.
The Trojans are in third place in the Black Division, behind New Berlin Eisenhower (12-1) and Greendale (10-3).
They have won three straight and six of seven games, with five games left, including four conference games.
