Girls Basketball: Tosa East losing streak hits six

Feb. 7, 2010 | 0 comments

Wauwatosa East dropped two more games last week, losing to Divine Savior Holy Angels (9-1, 10-6) and West Allis Central (9-2, 12-4).

Divine Savior Holy Angels pulled away from the Red Raiders after the first quarter and raced to a 48-29 win Feb. 2 to start the week.

Tosa East had a 12-11 first-period lead when the Dashers went on an 11-4 run in the second quarter to go into intermission with a 22-16 victory.

Tosa East struggled in the last three periods, being outscored by 20 points (37-17), including a 26-13 second-half deficit.

Only five players scored for the Red Raiders, led by Talisha Simpson with 12 and Emily Ferger with seven.

In the 47-26 loss to West Allis Central on Friday, the Red Raiders once again hung in the game before imploding. Trailing only 23-18 at intermission, the Red Raiders only scored a single point in the third period to trail 37-19 after three quarters.

Simpson's six points was a team best for the Red Raiders.

Tosa East (1-9, 3-12) has a big match-up with last-place West Allis Hale (1-10, 1-15) on Friday on the road and then returns home to face Milwaukee Lutheran (2-7, 4-10) in a nonconference game Tuesday; both games are at 7:30 p.m.
